Who is Sâmia Vieira?

Passionate about color, paper, and stories, I began my professional journey in the world of fashion and management, which gave me a solid foundation in organization and entrepreneurial vision. After more than 20 years of working with spreadsheets and bureaucracy, I decided to listen to my heart and fully immerse myself in what truly inspires me: drawing and watercolor painting. Since 2021 I've dedicated myself exclusively to transforming ideas into delicate, emotional images. I've sent over 1,300 artworks throughout Brazil and other countries around the world, including Australia, the USA, England, and France. Today, I work with traditional and digital watercolor illustrations, blending techniques with creative freedom. I work on custom projects, editorials, advertising, and especially illustrated books, where I can tell stories through the lightness of brushstrokes.

Journey

It all started with a makeshift table, a pad of paper, and a strong desire to create. With just a few materials, I explored the world of illustration: studying, practicing, and experimenting.

I started with realistic pet portraits, then moved on to people and landscapes, and soon found myself illustrating any subject that sparked my interest. Since 2021 I've been practicing different techniques and have completed more than 10 painting and illustration courses, both traditional and digital.

Today I seek more and more freedom and expression in my art, creating in a light, spontaneous and increasingly authentic way.

Techniques

Traditional painting is the foundation of my work. Even in digital art, everything starts on paper: I use 2B pencils for the initial drawing, 100% cotton paper, and watercolor tablets as my primary painting medium.

I enjoy exploring different effects with metallic watercolors, white gouache details, and finishing touches with India ink. These materials allow me to work with contrasts, precise lines, and touches of shine without losing the texture and fluidity of hand painting.

I tend to prefer fine-tipped brushes for details and angled brushes for larger washes. I also experiment with mixed techniques like liquid mascara and salt when I want to create light and texture effects.

For digital watercolor, I work with my own custom brushes designed to faithfully simulate the look of paint on paper. They complement traditional art without making a noticeable difference. I currently use Clip Studio Paint as my primary tool for finalizing and adjusting digital illustrations.
